Pride of Tamworth Community Awards 2011
The Pride of Tamworth Community Awards took place on Wednesday July 7th 2011 at Drayton Manor. The Awards aim to recognise and celebrate the contribution and achievements of local people and groups who make a real difference to community life in Tamworth.
Those who attended, the nominees and their guests were entertained by some talented young people, and heard about some remarkable people who help to make Tamworth the great place that it is.

The winner of the Pride of Tamworth Award:
Anker Storage, Christine Doyle – for commitment to charity fundraising
Runners up:
Max’s Food Service – for providing work experience opportunities to service users at Halford Court
Tamworth Football Club and Tamworth Turnaround Team – for their work with schools promoting respect and healthy lifestyles
Contribution to the Environment 2011, Sponsored by Karl Beeby, Chartered Architectural Technologist
The winner of the Pride of Tamworth Award:
Mr Horace Jones – for improving Lady Meadow Field, the Castle Grounds and river bank by regular litter picking
Runners up:
Friends of Wilnecote Litter Pick Team – for tackling litter hot spot areas to improve the environment in Wilnecote
Richard Kingstone – for working with Rawlett pupils and families to improve Wigginton Park

Sally Dickie – for dedication and enthusiasm in ensuring access to a wide range of experiences for pupils with disabilities

Health & Carers: Contribution to Health in the Community 2011

John and Barbara Wheatley, Dance Yourself Fit – for actively involving all ages and abilities in their dance classes and improving health and inclusion

Sharon Fox – for dedicated support and help to cancer sufferers in Tamworth
Mina Kathrani – for the selfless care of her mother and sister
