'Warm Homes, Healthy People' Event
Wednesday 22nd February at the Assembly Rooms, Corporation St, Tamworth
Cold weather kills! Every year, mortality rises by 19% in the winter months in England. More people die because of the cold (around 27,000 a year) than die in Road Traffic Accidents.
Staffordshire has received funding from the Department of Health through the Warm Homes Healthy People Fund, with part of this funding allocated to work in Tamworth to tackle cold-related illness and fuel poverty. Agencies that serve Tamworth residents need to know how best to attract help for their members and clients.
If you work with people who might be at risk from winter weather, the elderly, people with disabilities, families with young children, those struggling in poverty (including fuel poverty) then join us at this event on Wednesday 22nd February at the Assembly Rooms, Tamworth.
This event is for local agencies, community groups and volunteers – come and find out how you and your service users can benefit from the extra investment in Tamworth this winter, with help ranging from simple home checks to heating repairs, from extra lunch clubs to detailed advice at home. We will also look at the big changes coming after winter, including Green Deal and Energy Company Obligation.
This event is organised in association with Beat the Cold.
